So, you’re looking for free piano lessons? There are many sites on the Internet that offer to teach you how to play the piano. Problem is, they aren’t that good. That is, you may learn how to read bass or treble clef, but you won’t come away being able to actually play something until now!

My name is Edward Weiss and I’ve been offering students free piano lessons for over 3 years now. Why is it easy to compose piano music?

Because you have to start from where you are. This should be fairly easy; Otherwise you have not started from where you are.

A suggestion is to start writing piano pieces for beginners in a progressive order. The idea is that as the pieces get more complicated for the player they will also become more complicated for you to notate and compose and you will subsequently learn as you write.

As a piano player you have three choices available to you for learning; these are, note reading, piano tabs, and chord-based approach.

Most students who use piano tabs do so because they want to avoid the note reading approach altogether. They just want to be able to quickly play their favorite tunes without having to invest a substantial amount of time learning musical notation. These same students would be able to learn the piano even quicker if they learned a chord-based approach first. Here’s why.

Piano sheet music is a printed musical notation for piano. Before phonograph and radio became popular, sheet music was used by musicians to make their compositions known to the people. Many of these were piano sheet music since piano was the most popular musical instrument back then.

In the late 19th century, piano sheet music became even more popular as parlor music became a massive trend in the US at the time. Parlor music was a kind of popular music that was performed in a parlor, a small room in a house where performers play a musical piece before an audience. Almost all middle-class homes during this period had parlors and a piano.
