Piano Note

Hawaiian Music has been developed over the years as a kind of melting pot of sounds from around the world. As such much of the Hawaiian Music that we associate with the islands is composed of a few basic native Hawaiian elements with other cultural influences woven into it.

Contemporary Hawaiian Music often contains one or several of the following; a Ukulele, a guitar, double-bass, steel guitar, slack-key guitar, falsetto or high pitched singing, chanting, and native instruments such as the Pahu or a shark-skin covered drum, and the hanu ihu or the nose flute. Many of the listed items came to Hawaii with Merchants and Missionaries, even the falsetto singing style was learned from missionaries who first

taught Hawaiians how to sing the hymnals. Chanting is traditionally used in Hawaiian music. Most of the introduced musical instruments have been adapted by the Hawaiians.

Be sure to make time this holiday season to celebrate the accomplishments your child taking piano lessons has made over the past year. Take time to listen to them as they play before family and friends and in their holiday recitals. This is also a great time to take some special photographs of your child at the piano. Collect photos of previous years and arrange them in a holiday piano memory book as a unique Christmas gift for your child. Be sure to leave plenty of room to add future photographs so your piano student can continue to celebrate their piano journey as they grow.

Clear CD jewel cases are transparent covers used for storing CDs. Clear CD jewel cases are also known as clear CD cases, clear CD boxes, and clear CD covers. But, most popular of all these names is “clear CD cases.”

Clear CD jewel cases are made using thermoplastics such as polypropylene (PP) and polystyrene (PS). Polystyrene is a cheap, vitreous, and hard thermoplastic; and polypropylene is a thermoplastic with high degree of stability, transparency, and low heat conductivity. Thus, clear CD jewel cases are hard and highly vitreous. Each clear CD jewel case has a spindle on the center which helps to hold the CD securely.

When storing compact discs and DVDs, it is important to use cases. These are also referred to as jewel cases. They effectively protect the discs from being scratched or collecting dust and reduce the chances of people stepping or sitting on them by mistake. Jewel cases are available in circular designs, in plastic and are the exact size of a disc. They also come in a square variety for hard compact discs. Manufacturers offer a range of colored disc cases that help people to identify the contents. Though this solves the purpose, compact disc jewel case labels are considered to be more apt. This is because such labels can print adequate details and visuals, rather than limiting identification to doubtful
